Tim Be Old (and still has a cold)

7 09 2008

I think we’re approaching the 9 week mark for my freak sickness. I’m still coughing and still congested. It seems like it’s getting better but it just keeps on holding tight to me. I also crashed my car this week into a wooden divider. My passenger side door doesn’t open properly and the bumper is falling off.

In spite of the disaster that is my life, my good friends Calie and Daniel had their baby this past Friday. Her name is Hannah (yes, she was born the same day hurricane Hanna hit the US) and she weighs about 5 pounds.  I held her for about 2 hours in the hospital and they were the most peaceful and comforting two hours I’ve had in the past 2 months.  I forgot about my horrible bronchitis, the thousands of dollars worth of damage I did to my car, the pressure of recording, my unpaid bills and for that moment, life was so much simpler.  It was all about breathing and staring at a brand new human being.  As I held her in my hands, I started tearing up because I realized that in the midst of hurricanes, beautiful things are still born. I’m still learning how to see order in the chaos and realizing that time is running out too quickly for me to be cynical.  I feel another song coming…

TBT Beach Trip Adventure

1 09 2008

This past weekend, we decided to talk a trip to Nags Head, NC for a band beach vacation. We had an awesome time littered with a few mishaps. Last night, Jim had a grain of sand stuck under his eyelid. After calling the hospital, they told us to go to the emergency room just to make sure it wasn’t doing any damage to his cornea. Check out what happened below:

We arrive at the Nags Head Hospital emergency room…

Jim frantically looks for his insurance card while vision in his left eye slowly fades…

Jim is rushed into the Triage Nurse’s office…

Dr. Jackson tries everything she can to get the grain of sand out

But alas, Jim will lose vision in his left eye forever…

Just kidding.  They got it out.  More to come…
